Beginner Muay Thai Classes in Toronto — Beginner’s Boost at Lotus Fitness

Beginner’s Boost is a 4-week Muay Thai introduction program designed for people who want to try the sport but aren’t quite ready to walk into a regular class. It runs on Sundays in a small group format — same coach, same gym, same authentic technique as everything else at Lotus, just at a pace that’s built for someone starting off. By the end of four sessions, you’ll have the foundation and confidence to join our regular Fundamentals classes any day of the week.

Lotus coaches are so knowledgeable, patient, and supportive. The sense of community is unmatched, regardless of if you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro. I cannot recommend this gym enough!

Who Beginner’s Boost Is For

Beginner’s Boost is for you if any of these feel familiar:

You’ve been curious about Muay Thai for a while but the idea of walking into a class full of people who already know what they’re doing feels like too much.

You’ve tried a drop-in class somewhere before and felt lost or out of place.

You want to get fit but you’re bored of the gym and you need something that actually holds your attention.

You’re starting from zero — no martial arts background, no fighting experience, possibly not even a particularly active lifestyle right now — and you want a structured, low-pressure way in.

If any of that sounds like you, this program was built for exactly where you are.

What the Classes Are Like

Classes run on Sundays and are kept small by design — so your coach can actually see what you’re doing and correct it, rather than running a class too big to give individual attention.

Each session builds on the last. Week one covers the absolute basics — stance, footwork, your first strikes. By week four you’re putting combinations together with real confidence.

Nothing is rushed. Nobody is watching to see if you’re keeping up. The coaches at Lotus who run Beginner’s Boost are the same coaches who compete at the provincial and national level — which means you’re learning from people who understand technique deeply enough to explain it clearly to someone who has never done it before.

No sparring. No pressure. Just good coaching and a gym that genuinely enjoys watching beginners improve.

What Happens After Beginner’s Boost?

After four Sundays you’ll have a real foundation — proper stance, basic striking technique, and the conditioning to keep up in a regular class without feeling lost.

Your four included class passes let you join our Fundamentals classes throughout the week at whatever pace suits your schedule.

From there, most Beginner’s Boost graduates move into a regular membership and never look back.

This program is designed to be a bridge, not a dead end. The goal is to make you confident enough that the regular classes don’t feel intimidating — and then get you into them.

“I recommend this gym for anybody looking to get in shape in a positive, inclusive environment”

I was really out of shape when I started and had no real interest in martial arts – I just wanted to get fitter. Now my fitness has improved a lot and I’m really starting to enjoy the sport!

“I went from knowing nothing about Muay Thai to going 4 times a week”

The classes are great and the instructors take time to teach you, especially if you are new. The instructors are stacked – multiple champions, with experience in Thailand as well. Highly recommended.

Beginner Muay Thai in Toronto – Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any fitness or martial arts experience to join Beginner’s Boost?

None at all. The program is specifically designed for people starting from zero — no martial arts background, no fighting experience, and no particular fitness level required. If you can show up, we can work with where you are.

How is Beginner’s Boost different from your regular Fundamentals classes?

Fundamentals classes are open to all beginners and run throughout the week. Beginner’s Boost is a structured 4-week Sunday program designed for people who want a more gradual, guided introduction before joining regular classes. It’s smaller, more focused, and explicitly paced for someone who has never trained before.

Is there any sparring in Beginner’s Boost?

No sparring at all. Beginner’s Boost is entirely technique, pad work, and conditioning. You will never be asked to spar or make contact with another person – except for maybe high-fives!

How many people are in each Beginner’s Boost cohort?

We keep the group deliberately small (Under 16) so each participant gets real coaching attention. Spots are limited each cohort — if you’re considering it, signing up early is the best way to secure your place.

What happens if I miss one of the four Sunday classes?

Contact us at info@lotusfitness.ca and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Because the program is progressive, attending all four sessions in sequence gives you the best experience — but we understand life happens.

Where is Beginner’s Boost held?

At Lotus Fitness and Thai Boxing, 17 Atlantic Avenue, Liberty Village, Toronto ON M6K 3E7. Close to Exhibition GO Station, the King streetcar, and the Ossington or Dufferin bus. Enter through the laneway at the rear of the building.
